PLAY TAG! THE GAME FOR 'EVERY' BODY
Closing Remarks for the 2019/20 Season
As the 2019/20 tag season comes to a close, we reflect on the very transitional season it has been. We saw the game expand rapidly welcoming a huge portion of new and fresh faces into the New Zealand tag community. This spike in growth did face our small team with some foreign obstacles to overcome all within one season. It is disappointing that the remainder of the season has to come to such an abrupt ending, however, we the NZTFI are taking this opportunity to implement an organisational restructure to improve and refine our existing processes.
One point we would like to touch on that has recently come to light is the cheating scandal that occurred at the 2020 Junior Oceania Cup. Theses event have highlighted some major flaws in our current systems and moving forward, will be a point of focus to improve during the offseason.
During the 2019/20 season, we applied for Sport NZ sanctioning, however, we are still awaiting the result of our pending application. Should we be successful this will be a huge factor in assisting our ability to improve and open up the game to some much-needed resources.
On a final note, we would like to thank you all for participating in the season just gone. We couldn’t do what we do without your constant support and love for the game. Stay safe taggers, and we hope to see you next season.
Yours in Tag,
The NZTFI Team
